What is Envy?

1. A strong feeling of resentment, anger, bitterness, or hatred that is rooted in the desire to have the quality, the resources, the status, or the results that belong to or are being experienced by someone other than you.
2. An emotion which occurs when a person lacks another’s quality, skill, achievement, or possession.
3. It plants in you a desire to only find fulfillment when the other person loses those opportunities.

Envy is a natural human response in the presence of consistent results and achievements of others. 

Examples of Envy in the Bible

   Envy never stops until destruction occurs

   In the presence of envy, reconciliation is impossible

   Envy does not seek to share success it wants that you succeed alone.

The goal of envy is to fight the frustration and discomfort that is experienced in the presence of another person’s achievement as a way of healing from the feeling of inferiority.

Outside of the help of God, envy can plague all men.

1. Results create a basis for contrast
2. Results kill excuses

How People Fight Envy

1. Most people fight envy by downplaying the achievements and the perceptions that people have on others.
2. By Wishing for the fall or the destruction of the person experiencing the results.
   We cannot attain unity as a people, we cannot advance as a people if we do not deal with envy

Envy is easily around a life that has suffered deprivation.

1. The highest psychological need of every man is the need to feel loved.
2. The need to feel valued
3. The need to feel appreciated or celebrated

You become an enemy to anybody when you frustrate the achieving of this psychological need, you become

Eny is not always about wanting to be the best it is most times wanting to be the only. Mark 10:35-45 KJV

The spirit of envy never finds comfort even if the whole body is doing well

In the kingdom, being alone is dangerous Genesis 2:18 KJV

Envy does not find fulfillment in being the best or the greatest, it goes further to want to be alone.

Envy hides in anything especially truth, because truth can also be used by evil

The Cure For Envy

1. To Recognize and Embrace your Uniqueness and see your Uniqueness as a Blessing
   This is a healthy indoctrination that you need or else you will not be able to survive in today’s world. Genesis 4:2 KJV, 1 Samuel 18:7 KJV
   Within the fold, everyone wins even when one wins.
   Stay in your area of grace and find comfort there

2. Gratitude. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 KJV. It immunes you from the spirit of envy. Philemon 1:6 KJV
   It is difficult to be thankful and complain

3. Contend for Growth and Increase in Capacity. Galatians 4:1 KJV

4. To Submit Yourself To Prayer. James 5:13 KJV
