The Lord is My Shepherd by Apostle Joshua Selman

God has vowed that we will go forward.
Proverbs‬ ‭4:18‬ ‭(KJV‬‬)
“But the path of the just is as the shining light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
Job 8:7 (KJV)
God is glorified when Believers advance, make progress in all ramifications, maximize destiny, and bear fruit.
John 15:8; 16 (KJV)
Ephesians‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭(KJV‬‬)
“To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,”
Stagnation is a condition that is marked by lack of movement or progress.
It is also a state of inactivity; having life but without motion.
Stagnation is a major reason why people do not make progress in life.

Why People do not Progress:

1. Ignorance
2. Demonic activities:
Demon spirits can hinder the progress of people.
3. Absence of Divine Direction:
This is the inability to access and understand the leadings of God.
To fulfill your assignment and your divine destiny, you need to be guided and led by God.
It is impossible to actualize destiny according to God’s standard and structure outside of His guidance and leading.
As Believers, we need the leading of God because confusion is part of the limitations in all men. Jeremiah 1:11-12, Luke 11:34-35
It is a risk to rely on assumptions.
Our decisions in life are usually based on the information we have and our current level of exposure.
Psalm‬ ‭23:1-6‬ (‭KJV‬‬)
1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
3. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Psalm‬ ‭37:23-24‬ ‭(KJV)‬‬
23. The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: And he delighteth in his way.
24. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: For the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
Proverbs 16:25 (KJV)
Deuteronomy‬ ‭32:10-13‬ ‭(KJV‬‬)
10. He found him in a desert land, And in the waste howling wilderness; He led him about, he instructed him, He kept him as the apple of his eye.
11. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, Fluttereth over her young, Spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, Beareth them on her wings:
12. So the LORD alone did lead him, And there was no strange god with him.
13. He made him ride on the high places of the earth, That he might eat the increase of the fields; And he made him to suck honey out of the rock, And oil out of the flinty rock.
As a believer, you will know you have submitted to God’s leadings when the end result is beauty and glory.

Keys to Accessing the Leadings and Guidance of God:

1. Admit that you’re limited
(1 Corinthians 13:9).
2. Pray earnestly for divine direction.
(1 Samuel 30:8)
God speaks to you by giving you light from Scripture, in the place of prayer.
Two ways to hear from God in the place of prayer:
I. Through Light from Scripture.
II. Through the voice of His Spirit
(Isaiah 30:21; John 16:13)
3. Open up your heart for supernatural encounters, particularly dreams and visions.
(Genesis 41:1-7; Exodus 3:2-5; 1 Kings 3:4-6; 13-16, Mathew 2:13-15)
To avoid walking in error as a believer, it is important to understand the accuracy of God’s leadings and judge your encounters or leadings through the lenses of the Scripture.
4. Counsel from Authorities – especially Spiritual Authorities. (Proverbs 1:1-19)
You can receive counsel from Fathers, Pastors, Mentors, or people with experience.
Counsel is powerful! No one should ever outgrow the need to be counseled.
When you are open to receiving counsel, you’re ready to access the leadings of God.
It is unwise to interact with people who have gained mastery without seeking to learn from their experience.
Don’t respect only people who have succeeded, also respect those who have failed.
Failure is an asset that would make you qualified to counsel others in the future.
5. The Prophetic Ministry:
The office of the Prophet and revelatory gifts. – (1 Samuel 10:1-7)
The prophetic ministry is powerful; it has the ability to reach into the past and future to transfer spiritual realities to you. The prophetic must submit to the word of God. Acts 11:27-30, Acts 21:10
Two Dimensions of the Prophetic
i. Foretelling – Declaring things that have happened. It is revelatory.
ii. Forth-telling – Declaring things yet to happen. It sustains the creative ability.
Acts‬ ‭21:10-11‬ ‭(KJV‬‬)
10. And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judæa a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11. And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
The prophetic although powerful has been largely abused through the generations.
Prophetic declarations must submit to the supremacy of God’s Word.
If the prophetic dimension is not well managed, it would cause havoc to the carriers of the mantle and the recipients of its ministrations.
As a believer, it is important to periodically take time out to retreat and trust God to speak to you.
Stagnation, mistakes, and unnecessary errors can be eroded from your life if you understand the leadings of God.
