Redefining Inheritance by Apostle Joshua Selman

Redefining Inheritance by Apostle Joshua Selman

Ephesians 6:1-3 (KJV)
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Honour carries untold blessings, while disobedience carries untold hardship and consequences. (Ephesians 6:1-3)
The hallmark of fatherhood is responsibility. We honour every Father connecting with us, tonight.

The way to obtain lasting results is to stay with God until the light from His Word comes to you. It takes man in partnership with God to make anything happen.
God is a God of speed, but He does not rush people. It is pertinent to sit patiently and learn from God’s Word.

A life of spiritual irresponsibility will never constitute to constructive maturity. Regardless of your status as a believer, be prepared to take responsibility.

Take it as a project to identify areas of spiritual ignorance and deal with it until the light comes. Zoom your attention on areas of challenge and be patient to learn from God’s Word.

It’s a risk to be passive, careless and non-challant in today’s world. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see the light from His Word.

Ask the Lord for grace to contend for light and be serious with your spiritual life.
Pray: I take full responsibility over my destiny. I confess ignorance in certain areas and I obtain light. Let my life produce the consistent result that brings glory to Your Name!

Proverbs 13:22 (KJV)
A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

Luke 15:11-14; 25-31 (KJV)
And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

To inherit means to receive by succession or will as an heir (a legally entitled person).
Inheritance is an acquisition of a possession (property, condition, trait) from past generations, especially from parents to offspring.

Five Things That Qualify to be Called An Inheritance:

1). Your convictions; this is a summation of your philosophies, beliefs and mindsets. (Gen 18:17-19)
The first gift and blessing that any elder, leader or Man of God have to give is your conviction. If you cannot transfer your convictions to your children or subordinates, then you have not transferred an inheritance.
Deuteronomy 6:1-2 (KJV)
Now, these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it: That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
Ensure you pass on what you learn to your children – most importantly, your convictions.

You will never reproduce a man’s result until you are able to reproduce his philosophies, beliefs and mindsets.
The condition to transfer your convictions to the next generation is to be sure that your convictions have produced the results that makes for an excelling life, otherwise you’ll transfer a mindset that makes for mediocrity.

Age does not equal transformation;
Longevity may equal experience through pain, but it does not make for transformation.
Seek to find out the philosophies of great men, behind their convictions is the power that will produce their results.

In the Name of Jesus, the keys you must find and the transference of beliefs that makes for a successful life, receive them now!

2). Your name – This is your credibility, track record, impact, value and contribution. (Genesis 12:2)
At the end of your life, your name will either be a key or a padlock. It will either lock and multiply hardships in the lives of people or open doors. You’re truly a failure if you cannot transfer your name.

The name you carry contains within it favour. When God makes your name great, even when you’re not there, others can take advantage of it. Your name is beyond the certain initials to identify you.

May your name be a key, in the Name of Jesus!

Everyday, as you live your life you’re making an investment that will either add pain or favour to your children’s life.
Live your life knowing that others will be beneficiaries of your carelessness or of your attention to the things that make for an excelling life.

3). Relationships and Connections (John 19:26-27)
Relationships are a potent leverage, you can hand over relationships and cut-short someone’s years of suffering. Never downplay the power of strategic relationships. Who hates you does not matter, it is who likes you that matters.

Great men are made by their relationships, because all blessings come from God through men to men. In the multitude of men is the king’s honour. Value men and value relationships.
Invest in men – don’t barge into a future you did not invest in and expect a stake.

You’ve not transferred real wealth until you transfer your relationships.

Relationships can create exemptions; One of the easiest ways to rise is to find someone rising and be part of the history of growth.

Pray: Lord, grant me the wisdom to maintain strategic relationships and connect my children and children’s children to strategic relationships!

4). Physical Assets – Your cars, properties, businesses, estates. (Proverbs 19:4, Numbers 27:6-11, Joshua 11:15-23)
Physical assets can be transferred, not necessarily after death; you can provide leverage of resources. It is not unscriptural to provide physical assets as leverage. Giving people physical things can also be a blessing to them.

5). Mantle and Anointing – This is the master inheritance that you can transfer. (Genesis 25:1-5; 6-11, Genesis 26:12-16; 27:1-7;18-36)
Beyond anything physical that makes a man, there are spiritual qualities that men carry that is responsible for what you see manifest physically and sets them apart. It is what is on you (mantle) that controls what happens around you.

Everyman that is genuinely made, there’s a spiritual factor responsible for that man’s success. It is what is on you (mantle) that controls what happens around you.

Men are not just made by circumstances; there are spiritual investments upon certain men.

Two Biblical Keys for Receiving From Fathers:

1). Honour – Most young people who’ve not produced anything have institutionalised dishonour. Every father deserves your honour, regardless of their flaws. (Malachi 1:6-8, Genesis 27:3-4)

Honour is beyond giving money or seeds, it is pertinent to communicate genuine, in-depth honour to Fathers.
Look beyond people’s physical frame to see the extraordinary graces they carry.

Your possibilities are defined by the mantles and anointing upon you.
The spiritual climate that you carry can define certain possibilities in your life.

2). Service/Support – There must be a track record of service or supporting what they represent. (Genesis 30:26-30)
Fans or supporters don’t receive inheritance. Inheritance is for those who are connected genuinely by blood, covenant and revelation.
