Looking Unto Jesus by Apostle Selman

Part 1: The Name of Jesus Part 1 (Our Inheritance)

Part 2: The Name of Jesus Part 2 (Faith In The Name)

Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV, Psalm 34:1-10 KJV

  1. The Scripture likens our surgeon on Earth to a race. life and destiny is likened to a race. The race that is set before you.
  2. There is a way to run such that you win, there is a way to run such that you are victorious, there is a way to run such that you are. This strategy is what Paul called looking unto Jesus.
Running this race that we call life you only win when you take away your attention from things, you take away your attention from a place and you look unto Jesus.
What Does The Word Look Mean?

1. It means to direct one’s gaze or focus towards someone or something with expectations. Acts 3:1-5 KJV, Isaiah 50:7 KJV

This Looking Requires Two Things:

  1. You have to look away from
  2. You have to look towards

Philippians 3:13 KJV

If you must look unto Jesus to win, you must sustain the ability to look away.

If you must succeed in your life, you must take the responsibility of guarding your ear gate and your eye gate. These are very important gates that can shape your destiny.

2. To Rely On and depend on Jesus

This talks about trust and believing in Jesus. Proverb 3:5-7 KJV, John 11:40 KJV

To take Jesus as a person and as his word as dependable as worthy of trust, absolute trust. Psalm 123:1-2 KJV

It pays to totally depend on Jesus

When God becomes your everything, he takes responsibility over your life.

You can have faith in what is unseen, but trust is based on a track record.

Why Do We Have To Look Unto Jesus?
  1. Psalm 127:1-2 KJV
Truly, behind the results that come from men is the hand of God
  2. Romans 9:16 KJV
There are things in life if you don’t know God you will be angry for reasons.
  3. Psalm 62:11 KJV
Power belongs to God, he is the ultimate custodian of power. The power to change your situation, the power to give you a new beginning. Power resides only with him.
  4. Psalm 113:1-9 KJV
  5. Psalm 18:29 KJV, Acts 3:6 KJV
  6. Revelations 3:7-8 KJV
3 Principal Ways To Look, How Do We Look?

1. We Look When We Study And Engage The Scriptures. John 5:39 KJV, Luke 24:25-27 KJV, Luke 24:25-27 KJV, James 1:25 KJV
Having the record of the testimony of a real person.
The way we fix our gaze on him is to fix our gaze on the Word.
There must be a systematic approach to your study of scripture otherwise you will never be consistent no matter how sincere you are.

2. To Look As We Invest Time In Prayer and Worship.
An encounter is to strengthen your conviction over a reality.

The secret of freshness in this kingdom is the mystery of his presence. Freshness is only found in his presence. Number 17:8 KJV

3. By Looking At Worthy Human Beings. By Looking At Men And Women Who Have Looked Unto Him And Are Looking Unto Him. 1 Corinthians 11:1 KJV

When you follow a man who is following Christ, you are also sure of your arrival.

Jeremiah 3:15 KJV, 2 Timothy 3:10-11 KJV, Number 6:24-27 KJV
